“Look at me, damn it.”
He didn’t respond, so I reached out and grabbed his arm, squeezing tight. His gaze snapped to mine, eyes wide with terror. “Breathe with me,” I said, my voice urgent but softening. “Right now, forget the walls, forget everything. Just me.”
He tried, but another sob wrenched free, his breath coming in short, stuttered gasps. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, tears slipping down his cheeks. The sight made my chest constrict. Liam, the defiant prince who never seemed to falter, was crying, his bravado stripped away.
