I knew what I was capable of. "No!" Iris tried his best to pull his sleeping beauty away from my grasp, but I was much to fast. Before I let anymore seconds slip by, his neck was already in my mouth. His blood tasted bitter, almost sour like, with a hint of lemon. He couldn't get away, no matter how hard he tried. His screams were music to my ears. Iris was too slow to stop the fatal bite. I made sure I could dig as far as I could into his main artery. It would only take a matter of seconds for him to die.

Caled It’s almost been a day since Ginny was bitten by a vampire and we are still waiting for her to wake up. I sighed as I watched the sunset from Ginny’s window before I turned my attention to her. She was still sleeping… no, she’s still dead. I walked towards her body and held her cold hand. Her body was pale, her lips were violet and her heart wasn't beating. If we didn’t know who had bitten her, we would probably mistake her for dead. But she’s not. We know.

Because she smiled. Not the practiced one. Not the painted, perfumed, velvet-coated thing they all expected. This was the real one. The smile that came with her blood. With her lineage. With her power. And then she bit. Not playful. Not inviting. Not teasing. She bit down into his throat with the force of a creature that had once been hunted—but remembered how to hunt back. There was no scream. Just a wet crunch. His body spasmed once. Twice. Then fell still.

Nothing but silence. Panic spiked through me viciously but I forced it down. Taylor was strong, experienced. He'd survived worse situations than this. He had to survive this. A corrupted wolf blindsided me from my peripheral vision, its teeth sinking deep into my shoulder before I could react. I roared in pain and fury, ripping it off me and crushing its skull between my jaws. The bite burned. But it didn’t feel normal, this was something else, this wasn’t just a bite, this was…poison

Ailive told him with a wicked smile. “Wow, I think I love you,” Dakaath told her with a smile. “You know you could just tell her that we saved her life instead of letting her think you did something you didn’t,” Ehlark told him from across the fire pit. “What happened?” Ailive asked as she sat up. “You were bitten by a TreeLick BettleBat MoonBug. They are normally just a pain in the ass. To you, though, it would seem they are deadly.” Ehlark told her with a sigh.

he said sharply. “I know that!” I snapped. “What do we do?!” He didn’t answer. He stared at her throat. I followed his gaze. Two small wounds. Already dark. Already angry. Already swollen. Caleb’s footsteps thundered toward us. “What’s wrong?” he demanded. Then he saw her. And went completely still. “Oh fuck.” “She was bitten,” I gasped. “By a snake. I think—” Caleb crouched beside her. “What kind?”

She brings out her wolf face without changing completely and she bites down on Theo’s arm. He screams in agony. “Oh, did I mention that when a werewolf is bitten, they do not turn like normal werewolves. They break every bone in their body every full moon. Also, the bite can either kill the person or turn them,” I finish. Theo looks up at me, I can see his fox fighting off the bite.

It put its hand over the wound and climbed off of me. I got to my feet and I was expecting that wound to heal up really quickly as well, but it didn’t. It fell back on the ground, gargling and it started making all sorts of weird noises before its eyes changed color and they went white, like they were completely glassed over and it stopped moving. I walked over to its body with caution and I could tell that it wasn’t breathing. It was dead. Logan said that they didn’t know how to kill it. So how the hell did I kill it by biting it.
