I asked, setting aside the math textbook I’d been pretending to study. “You could say that,” he muttered, loosening his protective gear. “You alright, kid?” “Actually, I wanted to ask you something.” I stood, bracing myself. “There’s a group of girls from school going camping tomorrow night. Just overnight. Can I go?” He looked at me. “Camping? Where?” “I think just near the outskirts. They go every year, it’s a thing.” Julian rubbed his chin. “Who’s going?” “Ruby. Laura. Claire. Cherry—”

This is our fight, our chance to protect what’s ours. “Now,” I say, my voice firm. We move as one, converging on the camp with a practiced efficiency. The hunters barely have time to react before we’re upon them. I stand at the forefront of my pack, my heart racing with anticipation. The moon casts an eerie glow over the woods, illuminating the hunters who approach us with torches and rifles. I can feel my pack's tension, their senses heightened as they await the hunters' arrival. I nod to Callum, at my side , he crouches low to the ground, ready to strike.

he says loud enough that anyone can hear him. “Hi to you too,” I say awkwardly. “This is my team. Alice, an assistant columnist and Emanuel, a photographer.” Hunter offers a smile capable of warming the French winter. “Are you going to parade like this?” I gesture to the worn jeans and black leather jacket with a white shirt underneath. He smiles again. “Actually, I came like this. But this outfit could easily enter the catwalk. So, how should I be useful?” He deflects my thoughts once more.

And because hunting was more challenging in those snow-covered mountains, the hunting committee had chosen it. It was the start of winters, and the camp began with the hunting organized in my pack, Nyx Winter pack. I was in charge of the first hunt because it was to happen in the Vizsnow mountains for a week. The first night of the camp. Our first meeting. And our first fight. With Jackson, I checked the names of everyone joining the hunt. Since it was a night hunt, female campers weren’t allowed. There were twenty campers on the list, but there was an extra participant when I counted.

I said and walked away from him. .... It was finally on Friday and we were all ready to go camping. I dressed up in my black leather shorts and my white turtle neck with the leather jacket. Just black and white for today. I decided to put on black boots. It was just two days of camping. After then, we would go back home. Mr Jim and Miss Alesha handed us our headlights and a leather bag. Hunting was part of the game. It would be fun just like other places we have been during the week. There was no doubt I enjoyed it all. We all assembled at the front of the bus taking us there.

He doesn't really show his feelings on the outside, but is still very protective and caring. We live in a large village near the southern climate states. Our village is called La Freccia d'Oro. It means the golden arrow. La Freccia d'Oro is the largest village of hunters in the United States, and the third largest in the world. Hunters are mortal beings with a few peak human physical abilities: strength, agility, speed, reflexes, accuracy, and endurance. Due to their gifts, hunters are sent to a private academy instead of a normal school. The private academy is called L'Accademia dei Cacciatori, or The Hunters Academy, and it is used for hunters to learn how to properly put their gifts to us

I said as I looked the man over once before turning to Kane, he opened his mouth but Aramis spoke first, my attention going back to him. “Hunters are an elite squad within wolf packs. Similar to Scouts in their skill set but more prone to apprehension and elimination. Think of us like Bounty Hunters while Scouts are trackers and protectors. Hunters are the elite of the elite and we are the only pack that has them.” He explained, his confidence and hubris apparent when he spoke of them. I raised an eyebrow and nodded slowly, impressed but still suspicious of the wolf in question. There was just something about him that didn’t sit right with me.

"Hey! Are you all sleeping?" Mr Alberty, the Art teacher from Merganzel public school and the one among the two teachers in charge of our camp asks through the microphone, making everyone stir in their seats. "C'mon, wake up all of you. We'll be at Hondbill National Park in five minutes. Hey there! Wake the one sleeping beside you." There was nobody beside me. Adonis was still in the back with the dudes. "Guys, before we reach there, I'd like to give you a few quick instructions although I'm sure you've been instructed enough from your schools," Mr Alberty clears his throat when everyone finally stirs awake.

The first day of travel passed quickly for Izzy. Her nerves couldn't decide if they were bursting out of sheer excitement or bursting from the nervous energy at the overwhelming prospect of finally participating in her own Hunt. She had been waiting years for her turn to participate, always listening with rapt attention to the regales from mates that returned with hunters to Ellisvale in prior years. The caravan made camp that night halfway to Castle Rouge having escaped an altercation with raiders thus far. They had made their way through the forest and were camping next to a large river, a campground that Ellisvale used each year when they travelled to the Hunt with their hunters and prey.

But boredom has finally won out over whatever deeply-rooted awkwardness I have about him, and now’s the time. The camp itself is actually in a brilliant location—deep near the edge of the Winterfall border, close to Canada. Canadian packs have remained neutral, so if things go south, we can make a quick escape. And aside from the brutal cold, the camp is surprisingly well-equipped. There’s a lake nearby, perfect for hunting, fishing, and bathing. Caroline keeps calling this a vacation, which only proves that she is unwell.
