Tengu
Tengu (天狗, Tengu?) is a creature in Japanese legend. One of the mountain watchmen Kami, or yōkai closely related to eagles or crows. His attire is similar to that of the yamabushi priests who forged themselves in forests and mountains. Tengu have a long nose, red face, have a pair of wings, and very long fingernails and toenails. Tengu can fly freely in the sky while carrying a staff called a kongōzue, a large sword (tachi), and a leaf-shaped fan (hauchiwa). His work hinders people who want to study Buddhism.[1] His other name is Gehō-sama (外法様, magic lord?). In Japanese there is the expression Tengu ni naru which means "very proud of yourself".
