Taking one of her arms she wiped the blood off. "Thank you Dante, I really was not expecting that." Pinching his upper part of his nose, he shook his head. "You may not be part of this citadel but you are my best friend. I would really not like it if you died on me. Especially since it is our senior year and would love to be in a photo with you." Walking over to her, he hugged her. "We need you Student Prez and Captain of the Cheer Squad." Rolling her eyes, she looked at him. "Your well enough that you can train the Cheer Squad Co Captain. You need yourself, sheesh! I do not know how you put up with this Cici."

"But I’ve been coaching hockey for thirty years, Jules. I’ve seen captains defend their rookies. I’ve seen guys fight for their teammates. But I have never, in my entire life, seen a man look at another man the way Mercer looked at you when Silas hit you. That wasn't just team loyalty." He took a slow step around the desk, his gaze piercing right through me, and my breath completely hitched in my throat. "So I’m going to ask you one time, and you better not lie to me," he whispered, the silence in the room deafening. "What the hell is going on between you and my captain?"

He didn't respond, and merely pulled out a seat. “Sit down, Elissa.” I sat, without a retort. Did my perspective of him change because he was giving me something no one else did? Yeah, he was giving me a chance. “I am sure of your character, and I know you didn't steal it, trust me.” I nodded. There was no other choice. Handling everything on my own would be a disaster. But it was something different when it was the captain of the hockey team standing up for me. I groaned, pinching the bridge of my nose, “If you say this outside, you are going to get into trouble, Captain Myers.”

"Marcus, it's a misunderstanding. We aren't together. I used her to get out of that chapel, and I need to go out there and tell the truth before it gets worse." "No, you can't do that yet," Marcus dropped his hands, his professional tone turning very sharp. "Listen to me very carefully, Ryan. The team's sponsors just saw this, and they want to talk." He stepped closer, his voice dropping to a low, intense whisper. "I just got a text from the primary athletic brand that sponsors your team. They were ready to drop your contract because of the cheating drama, but now? They think this visual of you two walking out together is marketing gold. They see a massive opportunity here.

There were murmurs and exchanged glances, but I pressed on, feeling the need to explain myself. “This decision wasn’t easy, and it’s one that I’ve been grappling with for months. But it’s an opportunity for me to mentor and help shape the next generation of players.” I paused, allowing the weight of my next words to sink in. “So, I’m stepping down as captain. For good.” The room went utterly silent, the air thick with shock and surprise.

I felt sorry for him, being a captain of a great football team entails a lot of responsibilities, commitment and expectations from what I've seen. "I really admire your strength and like you said 'you won't trade it for anything' So just keep doing your thing and enjoying it, cause there comes a time when you can't do it anymore, and I'm sure you won't regret it, okay?" I tried to be comforting and encouraging which I'm not good at. Ugh. I hope I made sense though. "Yea. Listening to you speak is a good feeling too" he said which made me smile and I felt a little hopeful

Fortunately, I am thankful because there are only few could see and hear our conversation. "Serena, stretch yourself and don't mess it up. What you're doing now is embarrassing," he whispered as his jaws clenched. I laughed bitterly again. I cried, for two years... I had done nothing but love him. Even being a cheerleader I entered because that was he wanted to. He was a famous basketball player at our university that's why he wished me to be his cheerleader. Fortunately, I became the cheer captain of the group, that's why many admire our relationship. But this nightmare happened.

He chuckles at that, gesturing over to the cheerleaders. I cringe as I see Lana there, chatting with Alex and Rob. She’s not technically a cheerleader, but she’s friends with Alyssa, who’s the captain, and often gets to go. I wonder if she’s told them yet. I look away, and Kieran catches my eye. “Something like that,” he answers, grinning. “If this is what it takes, then keep her! Scouts will be looking at you now that you’re a senior.” Kieran nods, and the coach walks off, satisfied.

She knows about me and Greg since the beginning of our relationship.

It dawned on me at that moment… Lucas already lost the captain's title… There's no way Coach is letting Kianeffing Maddox go. “Everyone gather around.” The coach's voice came as he hugged Scott, “That's my boy. I am really proud of you.” “And to everyone on the team. We have our new MVP and captain of the team. Kian Maddox.” The coach announced. The rink erupted with cheers and whistles. Lucas threw his helmet on the floor, getting everyone's attention.
