The Return of Her First Love
I'd followed her without hesitation for years, even when it left me bruised and broken.
And now, someone was telling me that I could be that sun for them.
My heart pounded, my breathing quickened.
When we reached her building, she looked at me with hopeful eyes. I averted my gaze, unable to meet them, and muttered, "See you tomorrow." I started to turn away—but she grabbed my collar, rose on her tiptoes, and pressed a kiss to my cheek.
"See you tomorrow."
I knew right then—I was falling.
Neither of us brought up that night again.
