He looked at the smoking console. "Is Daddy sleeping?" "Leo... stay back." Bianca wiped her nose with the back of her hand, leaving a red streak across her face. "The man on the tablet says he can help," Leo said. He held out his own screen. A new face was on the tablet. It wasn't Elara. It wasn't a Vane. It was a man in a dark suit, sitting in a room that looked like a government bunker. "Mrs. Vane," the man said. His voice was smooth, like expensive whiskey. "My name is Director Thorne. You’ve just done the world a great service. You’ve also left a very large power vacuum."

He stood at the mouth of the blue corridor, his dented shield locked with Alpha Draven’s shoulder. The golden glare from the fork was blinding now. Malachi’s roars were turning ragged, the sound of his claws clashing against the faceless silver helmets of the vanguard coming faster and faster. He was a single storm trying to hold back an ocean of iron boots, and the midnight smoke rolling off his shoulders was thinning, stripped away by the harsh celestial light. "Draven, take the left rank!" Thorne commanded, his broadsword slicing through a golden pike that thrust through the gap in their shields. "Don't let them establish a bridgehead in the passage!"

King Thorne. I recognized him from the dossier I had compiled on local threats. He was the leader of the northern Rogues. He was a sadist and a slaver. "So this is the happy family reunion," Thorne rasped. He looked at the carnage in the kitchen and smiled. "How touching." Kael snarled. He stood between Thorne and the table where Leo was hiding. He was covered in blood. His hackles were raised. "Thorne," Kael growled. He spoke through his wolf mind but the intent was clear. Get out.

What better person was there to form an alliance with? “You took your time, Commander,” Thorne drawled. His voice was a low, gritty purr that rubbed my instincts the wrong way. He stepped out from beneath the branches, the moonlight catching the wicked, jagged scar slicing through his smirk. “I was beginning to think you had lost your nerve and decided to go sit at the kiddie table with Kaelen’s shiny new pet.” I pulled down my hood, my steel-gray eyes flashing dangerously in the dark.

We will send them away from the Scorpione family fortress, we will secure the whole place with our men and if Leo shows up here, he will be put down by us. He might be the scar faced shooter with little to no record of missing his shots, but he cant fight all of us single handedly, and if he chooses to start a war with the support of those that are still loyal to him, they wouldn’t have enough amulets to face us, we have the most deadly weapon in the country and we just need time to set it up.
