It's really odd for her to not be here at this time, and it’s even weirder for her to bring someone else to the coffee shop. "Did you recognize him? I mean, the guy she was with?" I ask, suddenly curious about this mystery man. "Never seen him before," Jade answers. "They were holding hands across the table and everything. It was actually pretty romantic." There's an awkward silence as I try to think of something to say. For some reason talking about this sort of stuff with a guy makes me feel nervous. The thing is, I've never actually had a boyfriend, let alone kissed a boy. It might have happened with Evan, if things hadn't gone the way they had. As it is, I have zero experience.

Jade was left astounded by Sky's reaction. "She really loves him" Jade said to herself sadly. "But I wonder if she knows about her pretty boyfriend's hairy secret" Jade said as she twisted her hair with a sinister smile.

Cora said. "I agree with you, Cora. Kira is so lucky to marry him, right? But I don't like her attitude. She's not a good person for me. I think she's hiding something. I hate her!" Casey said. "Do you want to stay here with me?" Cora shrugs. "I don't know, Casey. I don't want to stay here." "You don't want to stay with me, huh? Are you still my friend, Cora?" Casey answered.

“Because I’m your boss’s fiancée?” Isaac grinned. “Exactly.” I snorted, shaking my head. I don’t know how to feel about that. But for some reason, it feels lighter to call myself Cole’s lover. What am I even thinking? “Let’s talk about your love life next. Do you have a girlfriend—” Before I could finish my sentence, the door suddenly swung open. Jade entered the room, looking like she was trying to catch her husband cheating on him. We both looked at her like we just got caught red-handed.

He stopped short when he saw me standing there instead of coming downstairs with his jacket. "What's taking so long?" he asked, impatience cutting through every word. I held the box out to him without saying anything. Just extended my arm and waited for the world to shift under his feet the way it had already shifted under mine. His face changed for half a second, eyes widening before that smooth mask slipped back into place. He took the box from my hand and let out a long sigh like I was the biggest inconvenience in his day. "Jade's boyfriend broke up with her last week. She's been struggling to focus at work so I got her something small to lift her spirits. It's nothing."
