Damon shuddered as Max's monster appeared before his eyes, rising from a pool of pitch and flames.

Drac spat, his eyes glowing red as his claws sank into Damion’s flesh. But Damion didn’t falter. With a snarl, he sank his teeth into Drac’s shoulder. Black liquid splattered, hissing as it hit the earth. Drac screeched, his form twisting grotesquely before he wrenched free and fled into the night. The remaining monsters fell. Their bodies scattered in mist, their shrieks fading. Silence. Damion stood tall, his chest heaving, eyes still blazing. “This is just the first attack,” he growled. “A warning. They’ll come again. Stronger.”
