Maybe I could swallow my pride enough to ask Jesse to lend extra protection for their pack in the meantime. I couldn’t think about all the potential outcomes of my actions anymore. Opening my eyes, I found myself still enveloped in darkness, trapped in nothingness. Was this what death felt like? Goddess, am I dead?
