It contained new information—details about Alyra’s last movements before she encountered the rogues. Thane’s expression darkened. “Go on.” I explained what the notes revealed. “It seems that on the night she stumbled upon the rogue meeting, she went to see someone first. Someone she trusted... someone who isn’t her brothers.” Thane frowned. “Who?” I tapped a piece of parchment. The name Daniel... Kieran’s Delta was written boldly. The file contained basic information about him, that he had been the last person Alyra saw before the night everything went wrong.

Behind him the thirty wolves of the pack rose from the ruins of the courtyard, their tails low, their jaws open as they followed their leader into the path of the wheels. Elara felt the impact before it hit the ground. Through her right arm the silver log gave a violent twist. The data-dots beneath her fingertips began to shift. The blue blueprint ink turned instantly black. "The ledger is opening " Elara screamed, her voice completely lost in the roar of the oncoming machine. In her mind’s eye, the three-hundred-mile iron delta snapped. The braided cables were being dragged westward. The massive knot of fused iron groaned. She wasn't looking at the valley anymore, she was inside the ledger.

The Alpha boys must be on top of the universe for winning the combat. "Nira." Someone called my name. It was the small Delta girl from combat class who claimed to have special powers. She couldn't have been older than fifteen. She held out a folded piece of paper. "For me?" She nodded. "No charge." "No charge?" "I was told to give it only to you." She left immediately, without waiting for my response. I unfolded the paper beneath the table. “The truth isn't hidden in the forest. It's buried beneath the school.”

I opened my mouth and a knock hit the door like a hammer. Bran didn’t wait to be called. He pushed in, eyes bright with triumph and fear. “Alpha,” he said, breath sharp. “Scouts just returned from the chapel path. We found black fur in the brush near the east slope.” He held up a folded scrap of cloth with a tuft pinched inside. “And it smells like cedar and rain.” My father didn’t look at him. He didn’t need to. He kept his eyes on mine and said, very softly, like he was laying down a law that would break us all, “Say his name, Rhea.”

And the day he stopped trusting anything with a name like destiny. “Summit’s in two nights,” Darrow said, pulling out a scroll and handing it over. “Frostclaw’s comin’. They’re sending their Gammas. Maybe even their Alpha, if the bastard’s brave enough.” Ronan unrolled the parchment, eyes flicking over names, schedules, border coordinates. Standard crap. Still, his pulse ticked faster. “She’s gonna be there,” he said under his breath. Darrow raised a brow. “Who?” He didn’t reply. Just turned and walked toward the inner sanctum, where their pack seal flickered in silver-blue fire across the stone wall.

Runes managed. “I believe we can proceed with the gala then..”

Reya’s POV The neutral zone was a silent field at dusk—a flat island of truce between Riverdale and Bloodborn territory, marked only by broken steles half-buried in tall grass. Warriors stood at its edges: my Unmarked in ragged formation one side, Riverdale soldiers in pristine armor the other, along with their Luna envoy and two betas. Alpha Tristan emerged first, stepping between both lines. His teeth were tight, eyes bright with urgency. He scanned the gap, then met my gaze. "Reya."

If this was any indication, it simply meant he was paying attention to me. “Our pack has been without a Luna for the longest time, and while others would crumble in the absence of that particular pillar, we have stayed strong. All thanks to our Alpha.” I was pouring out my feelings and I hoped to the goddess it would work out in my favor. It had to.

Nobody has ever been made an Alpha Luna before. “I, Darius Colt Barnett, hereby pledge to share my role as Alpha with Diamond Joy Stone, making her Alpha Luna from today, and for all days, until she so chooses to relinquish the role.” Darius slices his palm with the dagger, allowing his blood to trickle into the chalice for me to drink. “Diamond, do you pledge to be the Alpha Luna of the Running River Pack?”
