Book two of the ' Second Chance Séries ' ** Chapter one ; I got my Revenge In the basement laid a young woman in her late thirties, barely unconscious, on a filthy mattress. She had a jagged scar running from her left eyelid to the right side of her face. Her nose was bleeding profusely, and her face was pale. One could hardly hear the words leaving her mouth as multiple men assaulted her. It happened every day for ten years. That was how long she had been stuck, maybe. It was karma paying her for her deeds.

She watched him step out from an Uber and was in front of a tall lavish glass walled building named VM. It had been two months since he left and she didn't know what to feel upon seeing him again. Kane was walking into the building when Madeline saw a woman rushing out of the building. Madeline could tell the woman was around the same age as her. She had long black hair and her body was just like a model. The unknown woman rushed towards Kane and hugged him tightly but Kane seemed robotic. And, the next thing Madeline saw was the woman raising her head to plant a kiss on his lips.

People like to think a second chance feels like relief. A clean slate. A soft reset. Gratitude. A sense that something has been restored. The universe apologizing in a meaningful, actionable way. Instead of agonizing over the impossible that has clearly happened and the how of it and the myriad of existential issues her rebirth unleashed, Maya spends her first full day in her second life discovering that it mostly feels like being handed a detailed report on exactly how you failed the first time, with the helpful note: try not to do that again.
