I stood at the gate watching them go, heart doing that nervous flutter it always did when my girl was out of sight. They came back a few hours later, Livia clutching a tiny wooden sword painted bright red and a bag of sticky pastries. Her face was smeared with chocolate and pure joy. “Luca let me pick anything!” she announced, waving the sword like a knight charging into battle. “And he carried me on his shoulders when my legs got tired!” Luca looked a little sunburned, a little proud, and a lot relieved. “She’s got opinions. “My name is Teresa and I am Luca’s cook. I will be in charge of your food while you are here.” She introduced. So not his mom but someone he pays to work for him. “Hi, Teresa, my name is Gianni and I don’t even know why I am here.” I told her. She looked confused for a second before she masked it with a smile. “You are Luca’s guest and he told me to take care of you.” I wanted to roll my eyes but decided against it since it would be rude to Teresa who has been nice to me since she walked in. “I am not a guest. Sadness flashed in the eyes of Jane but she quickly masked it with a smile as she introduce Lucy to us. "Jacob, caspien, meet my daughter Luciana."she said."Hi Lucy, nice to finally meet you.your has said a lot about you."dad said taking Jane's hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze. Rex tried to fight me for control to mark and mate his mate when he saw dad and Jane's interaction."hmm"Lucy said acknowledging Dad's greeting. The atmosphere became awkward with an uncomfortable silence but it was broken by Lucy."Can we eat?"she asked looking at her mom for approval.

There’s silence as I look at them waiting. Then Luca slowly leans forward, resting his forearms on his knees, his gray eyes unwavering as they remain fixed on me. "Not good," he says at last. His voice is calm and cold. "Too much fabric." Catalina hesitates, clearly caught off guard, but manages a polite smile. "I... beg your pardon?" "It hides her." His answer is blunt. Final. And I hate to admit it, but I don't really like this gown either. The room falls silent as I instinctively glance at Marco; his jaw tightens subtly.
