The tears that I hadn’t been able to shed, and emotions I hadn’t been able to feel, poured out just like that. “If you hadn’t lied to me, I wouldn’t get kidnapped and raped. It's all because of YOU! Now, look at me! I’m damaged! I have scars everywhere, and I lost our baby! And it's all because of YOU!” I punched his chest over and over again. He didn’t say anything, he just held me tight. “Why did you hurt me, Damian?” I clutched his shirt and sobbed onto his chest as I felt my energy drain from my body.

He had once thought they were friends, allies in the cruel world they inhabited, but now he knew the truth. Damian's sobs echoed through the empty house as he crumbled to his knees, the weight of guilt and horror overwhelming him. He couldn't bear the burden of his involvement with Sebastian any longer. He screamed out in frustration, anger, and sorrow, the sound of his voice echoing through the halls. In his fury and despair, Damian's emotions spilled over, and he began smashing objects in his house. Vases shattered against the floor, furniture was thrown across the room, and his once-cherished belongings became mere casualties of his emotional turmoil.

He looked like a little boy lost. “Emmah,” he said, his voice raw. I waited as he staggered in, the string scent of alcohol filling the air and his hands clasped in front of him. “I wanted to tell you I'm sorry for everything. For the things I said, for the things I did. I was a coward.”

His gaze stayed on the ceiling. “I’ve told him the same thing,” Grandma Eleanor added calmly from her seat. “Self-pity will not heal you.” Max nodded. “Exactly. You bounce back. You focus on work. You rebuild. And with time, you’ll find the perfect woman.” Damian let out a dry laugh. “I don’t need a perfect woman.” Max raised an eyebrow. “Women are evil,” Damian continued flatly. “And I don’t think I can ever love again.” Grandma Eleanor sighed. “Careful, Damian. Pain talks like that.”

Damian replies, smiling at me. I try to hide my emotions when he looks at me like this. I feel a pang of guilt as I look at him. I haven't seen the genuine Damian smile for a long time now. Rather, his smile is filled with fear and pain. But most of all, trauma. While I may have been the one that suffered physically, Damian suffered mentally. None of my injuries could even compare to the way he was injured. I've always believed that mental was always far worse than physical pain. Physical pain heals. However, mental pain stays with you.
