The murmurs and whispers that had filled the air immediately ceased, replaced by an expectant silence. Every eye turned to her, and even the rustling of the banners seemed to quiet in deference to her presence. Empress Ilyana’s gaze swept over the assembly, her icy blue eyes—so like her daughter’s—radiated of pride and steely resolve. When she spoke, her voice was calm yet powerful, resonating across the vast grounds with the clarity of a bell.
