Don’t answer. Thirteen minutes before that. My eyes darted to the rearview mirror empty road. My pulse eased for a second. But then the truck lights flickered. A hiss of static filled the truck, like an old radio struggling for signal. The dashboard screen glitched, green lines distorting across the digital display. My chest locked tight. A small red light turned off, then began to blink slowly. "Now!" Damian hissed. I pressed the 'equals' button. Once. Twice. Three times. Nothing happened. No beep. No signal. "Did it work?" I asked frantically. Damian stared at the calculator. "I don't know. It doesn't have a confirmation light." Suddenly, the lights on the jammer turned solid green. The reboot was over.
