Thalion continued to stare at me as the Gate slung almost closed, pausing with the lip still free. Liam stepped forward, placing both hands on the Gate. "Gar Geata." With one last flash of power, it thudded shut, the sealing of it vibrating the stones beneath our feet, the light surrounding it flickering out at last. Even as it did, all of the remaining magic gathered itself into a ball of fire and slammed forcefully into Liam. He gasped, but I could tell he was okay. The transfer of power was complete and the new Gatekeeper stood before me.

Another fireball hits the Gatekeeper, causing him to let out another earth shattering squeal. This is no ordinary fire but something which can burn the Gods themselves. Lavi aims several flames at him, pushing the Gatekeeper towards the wall. His skin is nearly melting off but the Gatekeeper is still formidable as ever. He growls at Lavi and jumps forward. “Watch out!” Anna shrieks as the creature closes in but Lavi shoots more fire at his chest, throwing him back.

“Warriors, I hope we haven’t been lagging off in my absence?” “No, Alpha,” everyone said in unison, a symphony of heavy masculine voices. “We will see,” Asher said. “Graham, Reed…anything we need to worry about?” I wasn’t sure, but I noticed his eyes narrow at the leader of the warrior for a second. “No Alpha,” Graham shook his head. He was a hefty guy with slick blonde hair, tattoos and piercings and gave off really evil vibes. “Just a few rogues here and there. Nothing out of the ordinary,” he added.

The tension in the van is so thick you can taste it as we arrive at the pack’s guard gate. “Siren, do you know the guard?” Javelin asks, just as Raptor growls. “He’s one of the attackers!” Raptor leaps out of the van and smashes his fist into the guy’s face, knocking him out. Councilman Warren jumps out of our van, just as Councilman Charlie does the same from the first van. “Stand down,” Councilman Warren says with enough force to let the other gate guards know that he’s an Alpha and he means business.

A hidden gate. Part of the Grey's network. Elena ran, half-carrying Maya who was still trying to reach for the forest. They made it through the gate just as the Iron Ridge wolves reached the wall. One of them snarled, reaching through— Garrett slammed the gate shut. It locked with a sound like metal on stone, some old mechanism engaging. "It'll hold," he said. "For a few minutes. We need to move." The passage on the other side was narrow and dark. Elena could hear the warriors on the other side, trying to force the gate.

He nodded, “I’ll gather the warriors.” … The east gate stood tall, flagged with stone and metal, guards shifting like sparks in the dawn. I surfaced through the courtyard with my warriors behind me. Aziel roared in my mind: Mate. Claim. Protect. My blood hammered in my temples. We reached the gate. There, leaning against the stone archway, feet crossed at the ankles, stood Matheó Reid. Gunner’s cousin… Well, mine too. His hands were stuffed in his pockets, a smirk painted on his face.

“Natasha.” “She knocked the gate clean off just like before! The same goes, she demanded to see the Luna! She’s making a fuss there and our warrior barely hold her off!” The warrior hurriedly explained the situation. I helplessly sighed. “Why does she always do such thing.” I looked at the warrior. “Take us to her.” After the warrior guarded us, the scene was exactly as chaotic as what the warrior had described. The massive iron gate hung crooked, its hinges twisted as though they were made of paper. Several warriors stood frozen, their spears were raised but clearly too intimidated to advance.

I had to believe that. When we finally arrived at the imposing gates of the Palace, the familiar sight of the towering walls and the stoic guards did little to ease my anxiety. We were greeted by the warriors, their faces grim, their eyes filled with concern. The Chief Warrior, Walther, appeared, probably alerted by the guard at the gate.

"He's not expecting anyone. Did he invite you?" "It's urgent. Please let us through." The guard studied her for a moment, then held up a hand. "Wait here." He stepped to the side and made a call to one of his colleagues inside. "There's someone at the gate asking to see the boss. Says her name is—" He glanced at Elena. "Elena Carter," she said. "Elena Carter is her name. She has two others with her. One woman, one man." Inside, the guard relayed the message to Harrison directly. "Sir, a young woman named Elena Carter is at the gate. Two people with her."

It was all so… Human. Aradhon hated humans, especially the one who wielded the Guardian Sword. Prince Dakath wanted a portal, a Gateway to the Nether. Aradhon couldn't care less about that, to be honest. The Gateway was not his goal. He wanted the Guardian Sword. Once he had that in his possession, he would be taking Prince Dakath's place—his kingdom, his power, his wealth. It was supposed to be easy. Bertram Leary, in gaining Dakath's Gateway, was supposed to take the Warrior out in the process. It hadn't worked that way, of course, and Jordan Thomas was part of the reason Bertram failed.
