My magic hovered at my fingertips, ready to stop time at a moments— “Boo.” A scream ripped itself from me, cracking off the treetops. Damon and Ghost stepped from the shadows like two creeping grim reapers. Damon’s brows vanished into his hair, which hung over his forehead in sweat-damp waves, while Ghost grinned like a cat that got the cream. “Sorry,” he held his hands up. “I couldn’t resist.” “Fuck you.” I panted, then spun around only to find myself half a centimeter away from a distorted shadowy face. “AGH!”

The ghostly face twisted and morphed, adopting a gloomy and sinister expression with a huge, wide smile. Sunny felt scared as she watched the face materialize, its hollow eyes staring directly at her. Trembling, she whispers, "What the hell?" The ghostly figure moves closer and floats right up to her face. She can then feel it go through her body and out the other side, which makes Sunny feel like she is being shocked. Just as she feels zapping through her, the ghostly figure vanishes into thin air, leaving Sunny breathless and filled with a mix of fear. The whispering in the room then came to a stop. Pure silence engulfed the room, amplifying Sunny's racing heartbeat. She sat frozen.

“Ghost.” My body stiffens immediately.

She shoved him aside and walked off. Pierre just stood there, stunned. Tears burned his eyes. That was it. Over. Cameras caught everything. By the time she was gone, the clip was already online. [What's going on? Didn't Sonia Quindt just get stood up by Hedley Hart? Why's Pierre jumping in now?] [Now Pierre's trying to swoop in? Shameless.] [She looks furious. I gasped softly, stepping into the dark silence. "Cilia..." A soft voice called out to me, I flinched backward a bit, glanced around but saw no one. "Ha ha ha ha ha..." A heavy masculine voice laughed loudly from inside the garage, turning off the lights and slamming the door shut. I spun around, looking at the garage door, wondering if someone just entered. "Cilia..." The voice called out again. "But that sounded so creepy, so familiar like the voice in my dream." I said, gulping a large quantity of saliva, still glancing around.

“Ms. Ghost, please save me… I want to get out of here!” Elowen was so frightened that she burst into tears. Lucien did not move closer. He simply said coldly, “This estate is haunted, so I invited a priest to eliminate it.” Elowen’s eyes widened. The blood in her veins seemed to freeze, her entire body turning icy as she found herself unable to move. Panic quickly locked her mind in place. The next moment, Elowen threw caution to the wind, rushed outside, and screamed, “No! You are not allowed to hurt my friend!”

They felt velvety and dewy as they pressed against my warm palm. We both froze for a moment. I quickly retracted my hand, while Cecily's eyes flitted about evasively. The tips of her ears turned pink. I was still flustered when Professor Kelley's voice rang out. "Hurry up and come inside."

The dinner plate was overturned and crashed onto the floor with a piercing noise. Patrick’s hands trembled uncontrollably, his phone nearly slipping from his grasp. He roared in fury, "What the hell are you talking about? What rental apartment? Are you messing with me? Do you have a death wish?"

Following my father's directions, the cars wound through twisting back roads until they reached a desolate graveyard. "There, Adeline. You wanted to see Samuel? He's right here." My father's face was etched with deep, weary lines. After speaking those words, he seemed to drain of all strength, slumping forward and resting against my headstone. My black-and-white photo stared back from the marker. But Adeline just fixed her cold gaze on the tombstone, her eyes brimming with unmistakable disgust. She lashed out without warning, slapping my father hard across the face.
