I let go of her and pushed her to the floor, which she crashed into with a loud thud. “I’m sorry, Lucien. I should have told you earlier, but I didn’t know how to. The Moon Goddess is the god of the werewolves and she mated her to an Alpha King. There’s really nothing I could have done to stop it,” Celeste tried to explain frantically.

I asked her, hoping she will explain it to me. Celeste shrugs her shoulders and says, “I’m not quite sure what she wants. After she had my father in her grasps, she has changed slightly.” Putting the half-eaten burger down, I ask, “What do you mean she has changed?” “I think she is in love with him. I honestly don’t think that she would hurt him again.” Celeste tells me now and I have no clue what she means again. “Again?” I asked her confused. “I guess she had killed him in a different world and her sister the Moon Goddess brought him back to life in this alternate world.” Celeste says as she moves away from the bars, and I can see some sadness in her eyes.

"What the hell..." She rose slowly, body uncoiling like a predator. Her new eyes—sharp green, slanted—locked on mine. No more milkiness. Pure, piercing hunger mirrored my own. "Lord Cassian," she said, voice deeper, silkier, laced with power. "I, Celeste, will serve you with my soul, body, and power." She turned away, a low laugh bubbling up. At first, I thought she was mad—broken by the pain. The laugh grew, echoing maniacal.
