"You know, Jules," Roman said softly, not turning around as he adjusted the stack one last time. "Security is a funny thing. People think that because there's a guy with a gun standing in the hallway, they're safe. But locks can be picked, cameras can be looped, and guards can be bought."
He finally turned his head, his dark eyes locking onto mine with a terrifying, unblinking intensity. "You should make sure the guy outside your door is actually on your payroll, and not someone else's."
