Dad looked at me, then slowly shook his head.
He moved toward the back of the library, with Ronan following close behind.
We descended through the opening in the floor that led to the tomb.
As we entered, I froze.
There, Griffin lay motionless on the ground.
“What the…” Dad hurried forward and checked his pulse.
“He’s still alive,” he said, relief flickering in his voice.
“We’re too late,” Ronan muttered, his gaze fixed on the tomb, its door gone.
Jerome’s eyes widened as he stepped closer. “Shit!” he growled.
