RECLAIMING EMMA
He turned his phone’s camera to the twins, who waved hesitantly.
“Mama?” one of them said, their voice small and scared. Emma felt bad, which showed in her cracked voice, but she forced herself to stay composed.
“I’ll bring what you want,” she said, glancing over at Mrs. Williams, who gave her a nod of encouragement. “But it has to be somewhere public. I’m not meeting you alone.”
Jeff sneered. “Afraid of me, Emma? You should be. But fine—let’s say the old warehouse by the docks. You know the one.”
