At the opposite end of the hall, a group of strong wolves appeared. “Those are…” Harriet murmured as a pair of red eyes looked at her from afar.

I focus a bit more and notice that one of the wolves is Sylas; he has to be fighting Laslo. Sylas is a huge gray wolf, bigger than Laslo’s white wolf. Laslo’s wolf is swiping at Sylas, and his claws connect here and there. Sylas twists his body and kicks Laslo’s wolf, sending it flying into a tree. Laslo’s wolf lays at the base of the tree, sprawled out. Sylas marches to the tree base and hovers over Laslo’s wolf, snarling and biting. His jaw reaches over and grabs at the white wolf’s neck.

It was like someone was blocking her from mind linking anyone. And that was when she smelt it. Wolfs bane. That explains why she can’t mind link. Wolfs bane is also known as wolf’s poison. Apart from silver, another dangerous thing to werewolves is the wolfs bane. When a werewolf is close to wolfs bane, it disturbs the system. The werewolf won’t be able to mind link just like the way Tory is feeling right now. And if a werewolf stay close to wolfs bane for long, he or she might lose his or her wolf and might eventually die.

Leslie groaned awake as Tara and Zak dragged a table across the shattered window and braced it with chairs. “Tom? You can’t be out of bed,” Leslie said, pushing up on her elbows. “Jakey, what’s happening? What are those animals?” “Werewolves,” Jake said, eyes not leaving the hall. “They’re real.” Tara peeled a slat of the front blinds. “They’re everywhere,” she whispered. “Sniffing. Hunting.” Zak joined her, jaw tight. “Can we make the car?” She checked—froze. “They’re ripping the W.R.X. to pieces.”

The rogue's hand closed around my hair, pulling me to my feet, and dragging me away. But then, a blur of brown fur crashed into the rogue, knocking him flat with a guttural growl that shook the trees. The rogue didn't even get a chance to scream. Blood splattered the grass as Harry’s wolf stood over him, his hackles raised, his teeth bared. I couldn’t breathe. Harry turned to me, his eyes glowing. He moved so fast I barely saw him. His large body swept around me, shielding me from everything. He nudged my side, urging me onto his back. His red eyes telling me things without words.

The black ink shimmered like liquid fire, forming the head of a wolf that seemed to snarl on my skin. 'Come, Kyrex,' I whispered. A surge of dark energy erupted around me, swirling like a storm. The air crackled with magic, and from that swirling shadow, my wolf emerged—massive, sleek, and terrifying. His fur was as dark as the blackest midnight, his eyes burning with intensity. The ground quaked under his paws as he landed beside me, growling softly. Thane’s wolf froze, shock flashing in those golden-red eyes. He stared between me and Kyrex, clearly confused.

The pack of wolves stared at the mystical happening before them. It was the first time their eyes had ever beheld something so strange and out of this world. Bringing the dead back to life was dark magic—no one dared practice it—but right before them, the dead wolves of Lakes were coming back to life. They all watched in horror, listening to the sound of bones cracking as the bodies took on their wolf's form.

Their skin was marred by lesions and scales, making them appear ugly. Instantly, Kael and Lyra transformed into their wolves. Kael's wolf, as an alpha, was bigger and larger than the rest. He had silver fur like his hair, with grey spots on his paws and black spots littering his tail. Lyra followed suit, her dark curls transforming into a sleek, wolfish coat. Twigs breaking under their powerful paws. Some witches landed in the air, while others remained airborne as they cast spells with their wands against the werewolves. As a result, some wolves who had been affected exploded in a gush of blood, while others twisted unaturally, resulting in their deaths.

"What kind of dreams?" Sarah blushed. "Well, some of them have just been about wolves running around in a meadow. But the last few days they've been about one black wolf in particular." She blushed even more now. "I guess that's why I'm not really that surprised to hear about Werewolves. In one of the dreams I was a black wolf too." A black wolf? Paul was gray. Karen had noticed most of the wolves in the pack were black, a few blond, and just Carr and Cole were the Chocolate brown. Could she be dreaming about James? Karen turned when she heard voices outside the door.
