It was a monstrous beast, even more terrifying than the winged creature. Its eyes glowed with an unholy light, and its jaws were filled with razor-sharp teeth. The hellhound had caught the winged beast in its powerful jaws and was tearing into it with a ferocity that was both horrifying and mesmerising.

I scooped up a fallen branch, as it was the only weapon available, and held it high. “Shoo, go away,” I said, brandishing the large stick. Another round of growls and snarls filled the air. I was in deep shit. Spinning in a slow circle, I kept my attention on the creatures as more and more glowing eyes appeared through the fog and trees. One of them advanced, stepping into a beam of moonlight. My breath hitched. It was massive, like a wolf shifter, covered in reddish-black fur with a row of spikes along its spine. Saliva dripped from its mouth. The crimson glowing pupils flickered as if made of flame. A single word popped into my mind—Hellhounds.

One hellhound is about six feet tall, which could easily tower anyone. I fired the black ammo at the first hellhound that I saw, which is pinning down one of the hunters. The other hunters in the vicinity try to help their comrade, but the hellhound just vanishes into the shadows. Impressive, I thought as I loaded another black ammo. Maybe I should ask Verphegor for more of these, but I won’t let him know that I intend to use them on him if he ever shows up in my room without notice again.

Hellhounds were the same in the sense of the human being dead, only once dead, the spirit of a Hellhound would possess the mortal body which in turn kept the body and human functional.
