"Where's my Mam," I question as my muscles instinctively prepare for pain. "Your Mam is on Earth. You have been transported to Kea. My home planet. Your illness and injuries have been healed. You have been sent from your planet to participate in a Harvest tournament. I am your correspondent, Jali (jail-ee). My job is to inform you of rules and traditions relating to the Harvest. I understand you have many questions, but your body needs sustenance," the alien says and my brain practically explodes.

“I'd heard Kelvin speak of it. Back when I was imprisoned… before I escaped. He mentioned it several times.” I took a step closer. “Mentioned what, Gwen?” She exhaled, her fingers curling at her sides. “Morgan’s sanctuary. A place hidden by magic, shrouded in death. He called it "the Hollow Keep.” “The Hollow Keep?” Asher repeated, frowning. Gwen nodded. “It’s an ancient fortress deep within the Wyrmwood Valley, cloaked in shadow magic and sealed from the outside.” No one goes in. No one comes out.”

Vines and tall grass did a fantastic job of concealing it, while the interior boasted a hidden generator and a sweet wireless setup, all cleverly disguised by old potting tables and rusty tool hooks. The seemingly rough wooden floor held a secret – a trapdoor leading to a secondary safe room underground. And just for good measure, there was even an escape route snaking through the sewers and emerging in a ditch by the nearby woods. As Aldrich had once explained to Greyson, a well-placed hideaway could be a lifesaver in a pinch.

This was my haven, a secret space where no one could find me—away from everything, from the pressures of my role, from the expectations that weighed on me. Now.” Jonah watched us for a moment, then gave a lazy salute. “Try not to get killed before the favor’s done.”

" Due to this incident, the kindergarten was closed as an emergency measure. There was no one around now. The usually noisy kindergarten was eerily silent today. I had a bad feeling about this.
