He asked with a pout. "Her flight is now." I said, "She'll be here soon." He nodded and closed his eyes looking drained of any energy. I stayed for two hours at Alex's place, i made him a chicken soap- which was pretty good- clap clap for me. He then took some medicines and went to take a shower afterwards. His temperature decreased which is good. He said he is feeling better. I sat in the living room and turned on the TV, i started flipping through the channels trying to find something to watch until he finishes.

Jake grabbed Alexander’s hand, leading him out of the basement and back to his room. After shutting the basement door, Jake sat on the bed, gesturing for Alexander to join him. "Sit down," Jake said, pulling the still-standing Alexander to sit beside him. "I was expecting you to throw a punch when you found out," Jake joked, trying to lighten the tension. Alexander frowned. "I don’t remember saying I needed a comedian," he replied coldly. Jake raised an eyebrow. "Did you forget Hailey is home alone?"

“But-” “But we weren't. We were fucked up. Dad- One night, my mom was passed out by the fire as she normally did. I had been really sick with a high fever so I had gone to sleep in the corner of the room where it was cooler away from the fire. I woke up, unsure what time it was, but I couldn't find Alex. I always had him sleep next to me, it was the only way that I got any rest, but he wasn't there. I got up looking for him. I found Alex and my dad in the bathroom. He had a candle burning and he had Alex in the bathtub. The child was shivering because it was a cool night and we had no hot water because of no electricity. He was freezing. Summer I was at home with Alex. His hand was hurt and his leg also almost fractured, so he is on bed rest. After long pleadings with the doctor, we were able to bring him home. They wanted to keep him there. I brought water to him and sat beside him. We just came yesterday and he is already so bored. I heard Hailey was also fine, but we couldn’t visit her because Robert had told us all to stay in our houses and take care of each other. Well, I don’t know if that was a good decision, though.

It wasn’t an easy few days for Alex. Keeping Nicky cool, keeping him from scratching, keeping him occupied took quite some ingenuity, but at least it gave her little time to herself. Fortunately Bradley, Mrs Mills’ grandson, also had had chicken poX, so when Nicky wasn’t feeling quite so sick he came to help with the jigsaw and similar activities. And Alex got to know his mother, Peta, better. And the more she got to know her, the better she liked her.

The moment emotion stopped driving him, strategy took over completely. My phone rang before I could answer him. The school. Jason’s entire body tensed instantly as I accepted the call. “Mrs. Sun?” the school nurse asked carefully. “Yes?” “We believe Alex may have chicken pox.” I blinked. “What?” Beside me, Jason looked equally stunned. “He can’t stop scratching,” the nurse explained quickly. “And several red spots appeared on his arms and legs.” I stared into space for a second before realization hit me so suddenly I almost laughed.

Justin’s gaze followed her, torn between chasing after her and staying put. In business, no matter how tough the challenge, he could always find a way to handle it. But when it came to Haley? Lurking around this house was his last-ditch effort—his final shot at keeping her from slipping away completely. Alex, watching all of this unfold, felt a little bad for Uncle Justin. It had been three days since the wedding, and his mom still wouldn’t even look at him. So, in a rare show of mercy, Alex patted Justin’s arm and said, “It’s okay, Uncle Justin. I’ll go with the housekeeper. You should stay here, just in case Mommy needs something only you can help her with.”

He asked Molly suspiciously, "How did you get to know Mr. Anderson? Also, what did he mean by sending you back? Did you come here with him just now?" The triplets smiled as they answered, "Great-grandpa, we're staying at Terahis Grove now. Uncle Handsome, that man just now, is our next-door neighbor. Mommy doesn't have a car, so when she heard that you got admitted to the hospital, she immediately went to Uncle Handsome to borrow his car. He noticed me eyeing the water pitcher and started feeding me ice chips. My voice came out croaky. “Pneumonia, huh? Looks like those kids really did a number on me. You look like a plague doctor.” Alexandra let out a short laugh. “Yeah, well, they’ve got you quarantined until you’re not contagious.” I looked around the room again. Someone was missing. “Where’s William?”
