What neither of them knew, sitting in that office with their report and their dead ends, was that the ghost had a face. And that face used to sleep in Adrian’s bed.

It will only take half a second for whoever is out there to get a good shot and take another member of this Pack out for good. “Fuck.” Low growls when a shot comes from somewhere in the darkness, it hits the ground right next to Ghost’s foot and makes him fall back onto his ass. I glance at him and realise my mistake. Ghost is no ordinary man; he practically glows in the dark like a damn homing beacon for anyone hunting at night.

"They aren't frozen soldiers. They’re data-ghosts with physical weight." One of the ghosts stepped out of the light. It moved with a terrifying, unnatural speed, its hand extending into a jagged blade of hard-light. It didn't scream. It just hissed—the sound of a thousand deleted files. Kaelor didn't hesitate. He dived under the ghost’s strike, his knife finding the creature’s throat. There was no blood. Just a spray of blue sparks and the smell of burning plastic. The ghost didn't die; it just flickered, its wound knitting back together instantly.

My heart pounded in my ears, my breath short and ragged. I looked around frantically, hoping someone had heard the noise, seen the struggle—anything. But the parking lot was empty. Completely still. It was late, and the last of the staff had already gone home. Just rows of silent cars and flickering overhead lights. Then the temperature dropped. A chill swept over me, raising goosebumps on my arms. I turned slowly and froze. Floating a few feet away was the ghost. The same woman I had seen at the office building before. Pale skin, long hair, soft eyes, but definitely not alive. She glowed faintly in the shadows, her features calm and almost kind.

“We go in now.” “You walk into a lion’s den without counting teeth first?” I growled. “I’m not dragging your guts back to Giordano in a trash bag.” He pouted. “Damn, sweetheart. Forgot how romantic you are.” I snapped a picture. Sent it to Giordano with one line: We might’ve found the witch. “Think she’s really in there?” Scarface asked. I lit another cigarette. “If Ghost is, she is.” A moment later, Giordano’s answered. His Voice like ice. “Is she inside?”

“I imagine it might seem that way to you and me, but they have different beliefs. Let’s just give the fella a chance. If this place is really haunted, he’s the one to help us. Besides, it would me mighty rude of us to have him come here and then turn him away.” Melody’s lower lip protruded forward as she contemplated his words. “You said it was haunted. Now you say if it is haunted. Which is it?” “I don’t rightly know for sure. I’m not an expert with ghosts.” Adam grabbed the coffee pot and a cup. “I say we give the guy a chance. Lord knows, I’m not worth a salt when it comes to spirits.” Melody looked at her father with raised brow. “Do you think it’s haunted too, father?”

Nick exclaimed. He immediately pointed his thermal camera on top of the railing and what he got was a sudden significant temperature drop. "I got a temperature drop right there." He added. They quickly came to his side to see it with their own eyes. And, what they saw was definitely a crucial temperature drop. It is believed that ghosts/spirits use the energy in their surroundings to recharge themselves or for their manifestations. Sometimes, they'll absorb the thermal energy around themselves which usually results in a considerable drop in temperature. This often indicates that a certain unknown entity is present at that spot. Otherwise, what else can cause such an alteration in temperature

The Ember Ghost opened his mouth and showed his sharp teeth before lowering her mouth to the exposed woman’s neck. The crowd watched in silence as the Ember Ghost appeared to suck the woman’s blood. The woman’s arms flailed weakly but her face looked serene, if not enjoying the experience. Then, the woman’s expression slowly changed into pain and she grimaced. She placed her arms around the Ember Ghost’s head weakly before dropping them weakly to her side. Then, the woman’s limp body slid out of view leaving the Ember Ghost standing. He wiped the remaining red stains from his mouth with a swipe of his arm before disappearing within the smoke that blew from across the float.

The possessive way he fucked me like he both hated and needed me. I forced a grin. “You’re crazy, man. You watch too many movies.” He stepped aside but whispered as I passed, “Run while you still can. He’ll ruin you.” Later that day, I overheard two employees gossiping near the cafeteria. “Did you hear about The Ghost? Some billionaire who shows up masked at underground parties. Pays good money, fucks like a demon, then vanishes. Nobody ever sees his face.” I laughed it off again. But deep inside of me, i was worried for myself.
