The Yellow Heifer pub in Newry was quiet on a rainy Thursday night. Soft Irish folk music played in the background, the warm amber lighting casting a golden glow over dark wood and leather booths. The air smelled of Guinness, peat fire, and faint rain drifting in from the open door.

My younger sister did actually comment on them, “There’s looking nice, Claire, and looking obvious." My response, “Well, I will get served quickly at the bar!” So we got to Nottingham, the weather was mild, light rain, and we ended up in the town centre, Witherspoon, off a square, classy, and we were having a nice chatty night, with no men, no parents and no children in tow, (my eldest sister has three and they were young then). The pub was bright, clean, lots of raised seating areas and steps, the clientele sparse, but the booze was cheap. My flame texted me for my location and said he would be there soon.

“I’m sure you’ll figure it out. And I’ll be around too if you ever need someone to talk anything through.” Fortunately, with the pack house being right smack dab in the middle of downtown, we were at the pub in no time. Most people that lived further out would take their snowmobile in, or just run over in their wolf forms if they weren’t expecting to carry anything back. We climbed the steps to enter the pub, the warm air inside instantly defrosting our cheeks. We both slid off our heavy coats and found an empty booth to slide into. Because this time of year was unpredictable, as far as what was available for food, they printed a new menu each day on eight-and-a-half by eleven printer paper.

Tonight, was Daniel's Alpha ceremony and Kade had promised to be back in time for it but needed a drink to try and kill his foul mood. The pub was already busy with mostly humans from the local town dining or sharing a few drinks with friends after work. The fire was roaring in the large hearth and the heat mixed with the smell of hot oil from the kitchen and the smell of stale beer didn't help Kade's headache any.

Yasmin descended the staircase, holding two handsome toddlers, followed by the entire Gavin family, David, and Darian's extended family specially invited from Turkey. “Okay, ma’am.” We arrived in front of the pub, where a neon sign stood outside reading Hot Wolves Only. The music was loud, with brilliant lights illuminating the place as we strolled inside.
