There was zero indication that Petric was anywhere near the Kingdom. “Atticus, you and Arthur need to be ready to catch her when the clock strikes twelve and Petric is still a no-show. She’s built a goddamn shrine to him in her head,” Jass hissed, her fingers white-knuckled as they gripped the stone railing. She turned with a nod of gratitude my way. "Sorry I ever doubted you," she told me before refocusing on the battle. I could see Petra and Jesse smiling in the distance as if this were some kind of game they were enjoying. Jesse seemed to glow the same way Petra did and I wondered what happened between the two of them. I couldn't see anything about Petra, not her future, not her present, and definitely not her past. I am thinking it's because of the God side of her. I can't see anything that pertains to the gods and their devine plans.

Jessica snapped angrily, her face turning red as her faked calm expression broke. “It’s none of your business who I sleep with! Whatever you’re doing here. Just go back to the gutter where my father picked you and your mother up years ago.” Tessy ignored her words. Her lips curled slightly into a mocking derisive smile. Tessy mocked back, “I know how much Matt loves you, he spent years running after you, and now you’ve dropped him for a richer man. That’s really sad.” She tilted her head slightly, clearly enjoying Jessica’s frustration.

Her eyes found mine immediately — venomous, gleaming, alive with something that looked dangerously close to joy. Beside her, Baron was perched on one of the large rocks, lazily turning pebbles between his fingers like this was nothing. Like we were nothing. And then — Natasha. Arms crossed. "Good to see you, Alpha," Natasha said lightly, her gaze cutting to Jaxon. "I see you managed to get your woman back. What broke the spell?" Jaxon went utterly still.

Jessica stepped back as Tasha exaggerated another loud, fake sob. Amir pinched the bridge of his nose, wanting it to end already. “Okay, you can stop now,” Jessi said on the poor Beta’s behalf, before she grinned widely. “Hey, at least we’ll stay together now! We’ll both be in the city and still be able to meet up.”
