He looks at me with a small smile. " Hi, I'm Keith." " And I'm Jonah." " Fucking quit it already." Chase warns. He's frustrated. I give the two guys a polite smile. " Hello. I'm Lauren." " It's a pleasure to meet you." Jonah says. He should be in his late 20s or early thirties. He has dark skin and light brown hair. He's tall, nearly the same height as Chase, but Chase is taller. Both his arms are peppered with tattoos. He doesn't look all that bad.

Jonah said, mentioning his wound, his instinctively hand went to his side. Marty raised his eyebrow at him as he glanced at his side. Questions went across his face as another approached Marty. He was a tall man with dark hair, he had a long scruffy beard and his hair was just as long. He kept both his hair and bread in a ponytail. He nodded to Jonah extending his hand. “David, I watched you come across from Rowling’s ship. Were you part of his crew?” David asked Jonah to hold his hand out to Jonah. “Jonah and no. I’m part of the Evening Star crew. I am the first mate. Jack is the captain, Rowling had me captured and I managed to escape.” Jonah said, shaking David’s hand.

I hear her say to herself as she is motivating herself not realizing the call is still going. I quickly wake my brother up and point to my phone I think he gets it and I put the call on speaker as I hear her taking deep breaths trying to calm herself down. I show my brother the number he track it while looking into whose it is. It comes back to a nineteen year old Jaymes Tevin Jones. It also shows her location out of the city in the forests. "You say Mark brother's friend?" I ask I hear a small gasp I'm sure she is shocked I'm still on the call. I signal my brother to get ready. He knows to also wake up at least a few more of my guys as I go to my room and get dressed.

Adam knows the doctor wasn't trying to be nosey; he was genuinely concerned about him, anyone that looked at Adam could see he has not slept well in weeks. "He is in Atlanta, a big opportunity appeared to him, he's a rapper you know and he may have a chance with this record label." He said to the doctor. "Oh. Good." Adam hated people's reaction when they asked about Khalan; they always had the same look of pity on their faces.

That was all it took. The side room was small, soundproofed. No cameras. A relic from when the compound still pretended trust was possible. Jonah closed the door behind us. “I’m defecting,” he said immediately. No preamble. No justification. Just the truth, blunt and shaking beneath the surface. I didn’t react. “From whom?” Jonah hesitated. That was telling. “From Kane,” he said finally. “Officially. But really—from the assumption that any of this stabilizes.”

I had finished reading and was prepared…somewhat. The car was more luxurious than the one I had ridden previously. The same man was on the driver’s seat again. There was another man whose name was James. He was probably a gamma. I let out a small sign as I decided to look at the file, just to occupy myself. Today, I was woken up by Clarissa, the file still in my hand and she had been worried that I would suffer pain in my neck because of how I had fallen asleep. The radio silence from Isaac felt odd but welcoming. I don’t think I could have tolerated his presence after that little incident.

Damon. His tall frame leaned against the doorway, his arms crossed over his chest, his expression unreadable. His green eyes flickered between me and the baby, lingering on Isla for a moment before shifting back to me. “You’re awake,” he said, his voice void of emotion. I swallowed and nodded, shifting Isla’s weight in my arms. “She barely slept,” I admitted. “She kept crying through the night. I couldn't get any sleep until she rested.” Damon remained silent, his jaw tightening as if he were forcing himself to stay in the room. He took a slow step forward, his gaze dropping once again to our daughter.
