Jaden I read through the first journal, careful not to tear any of the pages. There wasn’t much to find to begin with, as there was nothing about the moonstone pack or Claxton. Night had come, and the fire crackled in the lounge as they sat on the floor, tearing through the pages. The smell of smoke wafted through the air, mingling with the musty scent of old books. We tore through the journal’s contents like wild animals ripping apart their prey, desperate for any scrap of knowledge that could aid us in our mission.

His name tasted like rot in my mouth, and I pressed a hand against my temple, grinding my fingers against the swelling behind my eyes that seemed like frustration. I should have fought harder during that hearing. I should have been with her. I should’ve stepped out of the shadows and pulled out the lies from them. But now she’s gone with no trace, and all I have is just these books. Henry Stark’s journal lay open on my desk. I’ve read it cover to cover since yesterday when we returned from the questioning, hunting for a clue I might have missed, and found nothing. Despite that, I crossed the room to my desk. Sitting, I started again, going through the pages again, slower this time.

Jonathan whispered, as if saying a single word could kill him. “No, Jonathan! I’m coming, wait, son—” But his feet were frozen. The shadow slowly swallowed Jonathan, starting from his feet until his last breath. “Sorry… I’m not strong enough to be your shadow, Papa. Please take back what should be mine,” Jonathan, engulfed in darkness, tearfully, with red eyes, seemed to harbor revenge and anger. “JONATHAN!!!” He woke up gasping. His eyes were wet. The clock showed 03:06—exactly when Jonathan died in Luzern.

Who knew I'd find a page on her as quickly as I opened Hunter Salem's diary of the unknown. And truly it was just a name. It turns out she scared the shit out of Salem himself because the only thing he wrote was her name in seven different languages, over and over again. Chills ran down my spine cooling off the heat Magnus was trying to spread in-between my thighs. A low snarl from behind me made me hold my breath. My heart slammed in my chest. Something was behind me. I turned my screen light off trying to pretend like I didn't know werewolves could see in the dark. But then, my phone chimed.

My father’s ink-stained voice carried across time, shadowing every thought: “The one you love shall fall first…” I swallowed hard, the metallic tang of fear prickling my tongue. I wanted to speak, to demand answers, to strike out—but Damien’s smirk stopped me. He was the predator, and for once, I felt cornered. The room was silent except for the distant howl of a lone wolf outside. My heart pounded in rhythm with that cry. I pressed the journal to my chest again, as if it could shield me. And then, reluctantly, I allowed my gaze to drift back to the bloodstained page.

I scanned my eyes around for about five seconds and return my gaze to the picture, studying it until— “Is this a journal?” I swallowed the fear trying to get hold of me again, threatening to choke the breath out of me. What if this is a dangerous book that shouldn’t be opened? What if this very journal will wreak havoc here in Stella’s Soul and demands the life of every resident that lives here? ‘You’re just overthinking,’ I whispered to myself in order to calm down the rapid beating of my heart. It helps though, yet as soon as I opened the leather journal, I realized Rowena’s name is written in blood on the first page since it stinks very much and turned into a dark, brownish color.

He just continued walking towards him until he stopped dead in front of him, a grin spread across his lips as he looked at the cowering man in front of him. Then he squatted, yanked him forward by his hair until their faces were close together, and leaned over to whisper, “End your deal with Wu, or else I am going to find you again, and you are going to need a face reconstruction if I have to tell you twice. Got it?” Nodding through the pain, Mr. Harker whispered his reply, “G-ot it. I got it.” “Good.”Zane said as he stood up, letting go of Mr. Harker’s hair, and walked away without another word, and after walking a short distance, he got into the backseat of the SUV, and Yoko drove off, fo

Caitlin was so stunned by what she had just witnessed, she could hardly breathe. “It was real,” she said aloud. “It was all real. Everything in my vampire journals really happened.” Yet where did that leave her now? Finally able to take in her surroundings, Caitlin first became aware of the intense heat, then the smell of sand and decay in the air. She could hear the distant sound of dripping, coming from what seemed like a long, long way away, echoing as though from the walls of a cave. Caitlin realized then that she was deep underground.

Caitlin flew down towards Warwick Castle in a panic. She was the first of her coven members to return from London, and she held Scarlet in her arms, clutching her tight. Scarlet had been in and out of consciousness for most of the trip, and over the last hour or so, Caitlin had seen welts begin to form on her face. She was out of her mind with grief and anxiety. She was certain now that Scarlet had caught the Plague. She dove down, behind the inner walls of the castle, into the courtyard, and landed softly. She ran with Scarlet through the large oak door, and down the stone hallways.

She asked, looking to Hunter. He shook his head somberly. “Remember what I told you the other night, Bella. When it comes to the Family—” “There are no coincidences,” Bella finished for him, collapsing back in the chair. “I also found this,” said Hunter, unzipping his jacket to reveal the scarlet book. It really looked more like a journal now that Bella was looking at it closely. He undid a bronze latch that was keeping the leather cover in place. There was no title that she could see, and the first few pages appeared blank save for a rather long handwritten dedication.
