Rolling my eyes at myself, I let the stupid paper fall to the ground and put my arms around Ryder's waist, pulling him closer to me. [ R Y D E R ] Kara was really… something. Before they drove away, Linda rolled down the car window and cast a lingering gaze upon me, whispering words that eluded my ears. As their car vanished from sight, I remained rooted to the spot, attempting to fathom the bewildering turn of events that had just unfolded. Just as I was about to make my way to my own car, Drake materialized before me, sporting a mischievous grin. "Ah, I see you have a new Luna. I imagine she must be quite beautiful." Seizing his shirt collar, I forcefully brought him closer, my voice resonating with a fierce growl. "Sierra belongs to me, Drake. Don't you dare come near her."

She attacked my lips and in a swift move, she was straddling me, her hands in my hair. Camila, Camila, Camila. Camila Brinx- Camorra. Deep, open mouthed kisses, mixed with the cool air of the night, a dream. Our lips felt perfect against each other, she felt perfect in my arms. The sound of the ocean now rushing, or maybe that was my blood rushing through my veins, kick starting my adrenaline. Whenever I'm with Camila, it's like a fever dream.

“Jesus, Kara. I was joking.” A pause. Then, deadpan: “Oh.” Kara is Adrian’s friend from grad school — which means, fortunately, she’s also somehow in my life now. And if Adrian’s awkward, Kara’s basically a sentient algorithm. Same tone. Same fixation on irrelevant details. “But why do you want Diana looked into? Adrian said she wasn’t suspicious.” I open my mouth to respond — then wince as two different songs start blaring outside Liam’s room. Both at full volume. Both coming from opposite sides of the hall.

I pulled my phone out and called my father. I explained everything from the night before right up until now. I told him about Gideon being requested. I walked away from Jack and Amelia and told him about the connection I was feeling, and he told me not to worry. He would contact Evelyn and offer the full support of Carter and Sons. I thanked him and closed off the call before turning back to face Amelia and Jack. “Carter and Sons are offering their full support to the ADA and will back the case.”

She held Maren for thirty seconds and then had to give her back because the crying was making her shake and she did not trust herself with the shaking. Then she composed herself in approximately forty-five seconds, which was a personal record. Then she held Maren again. "Hello," she said. "I'm Kara. ADRIAN'S POV " Adrian, she will have had her reasons. " The former Luna said. I was fuming , marching up and down on the edge of the boundary. " She shouldn't have done that , anything could be happening now. All the people we love could be dead or dying and we are stuck here , helpless" I snapped, looking out at the path up to the battle.
