I place her down gently, breath catching at how fragile her body looks, then snap my head up to see the two who have run after him.
I tear down the hallway, fury roaring in my veins. I catch a glimpse of them up ahead, dragging his ruined arm, stumbling, slipping on blood-slicked tiles. So close.
Then Raze steps out of nowhere, blocking the narrow corridor.
“You’re not getting to him,” he spits, bracing himself.
I don’t hesitate. I slam into him, claws ripping through his side, throwing him into the wall. But it buys Sean enough time. Phantom throws something and it erupts in smoke, slowing me. I back off as the poison gets up my nose.
