Ray replies before turning Lydia and I in the back seat, “Next stop ladies, a night club.” I raise a brow and Lydia asks, “May I ask why you thought that would be the perfect place to go after this sham of a date?” Ray shrugs, “It’s the perfect place to lose someone.”

Ray said in his excited tone. “ Not when you have, laundry to do. Look there those are waiting for you to clean them up.” I lashed out like a whip. “ Come on man! I will do that later, for now let’s go ball out like we’ve always done.” Ray grumbled as he kick himself to the edge of the bed. “ I’m in the mood for some ass”. Ray slapped his hands on the bed, probably thinking I was going to spend the money alone at the bar.

Ray. “I’m sorry,” Ray muttered regretfully as he climbed on top of the freezer. Stabs of pain lanced through his shoulder as he unlocked the window, slid it up, and punched the screen out. Adrenaline was his fuel, staving off the dizziness and fear as he wiggled out of the window and dropped as quietly as he could onto fallen leaves. Ray had no idea where he was. He thought Leon drove by somewhere, but who was to say that thewere still somewhere he knows.

“I just signed something important. But come on, we deserve to celebrate. Let’s go shopping.” Lyra gasped. “Shopping? Already?” “Yes,” Mira said, standing up. “It’s been months since I did something for myself. Besides, I missed walking through the city.” Her father chuckled. “You two go and have fun. You deserve it.” Her mother nodded in agreement. “Buy yourself something beautiful, Mira. It’s a new beginning.” Mira hugged her parents, then took Lyra’s hand. “Let’s go get ready , sis.” The drive to the city took about an hour. The car moved smoothly through the glass towers and tree-lined streets of Ravenswood City, a place known for its luxury and elegance.

When I got the letter that I got accepted into UCLA, I took that as my saving grace from everything and I made Caroline promise me that she will not tell him. As I plopped my remaining luggage out the porch, I hoped and prayed that my family and Dalton won't get mad at me for not being there on our graduation. After following Dad up the back hill, I turned and looked toward the compound. Pinpoints of torchlight were moving quickly in the distance. Dad looked at the torches in terror, his voice shaking. "They're coming after us." Lucas' face hardened. "Run! This is our only chance. We can't let them catch us!"

He simply looked patient, useful, present. Ethan locked the phone and threw it onto the bed. Ten minutes later, he picked it up again. The earliest flight to Halewick left the next morning with one connection through Miami. If he booked it now, he could reach the resort before dinner. He imagined arriving before the rehearsal, finding Claire, pulling her aside before Maya could turn it into a public fight. They would talk. She would be angry. Maya would be worse. Ben would look at him like he had disappointed everyone at once. Ethan could handle all of that.
