“I’m glad you like them. I even made some for Sara. Do you want to feed her with me?” I arched a brow, puzzled. “Who is Sara?” She held up her doll with the white hair. “You both have the same name and even look the same.” The look in her eyes was so cute, I couldn’t bring myself to say, ‘She looks more like you than I do.’ Before I could say another word, Lila approached me, holding her phone high. Her eyes were wide and accusing. “Are you Saratan Credi? That staff from RainCloud works who beat up Alexis Camron?”

A woman’s silhouette. He stepped closer. She turned. It wasn’t Cassandra. But she looked so much like her. Eyes like mirrors. Lips like secrets. “You came,” she said softly. Jason’s heart thundered. “Who are you?” The woman smiled. “My name is Lila.” Then she reached into her coat. And pulled out a blade. Jason didn’t move. Not when she stepped forward. Not when she pressed the blade to her own throat. “I just wanted you to see,” she whispered. “What happens to the ones he touched.”

The bug I’d planted under his desk chair picked up every word. A girl named Lila. He lied to her, no uncle, no lawyers. His voice was soft, too soft. Gentle. Warm. Planning a date. So that was her. The weakness Queen Catherine had hinted at. As I walked toward the hotel, I opened the room’s desk drawer, found the stationery, and began to write. Lila – who is she? Where was he before Lenweil? Where is he hiding her? If I wanted the prince to come home willingly, I’d need leverage. Lila was the key, and I was going to find her.

“Lily – I need you ASAP. Where are you?” I ask Lily through our mind-link. There is only one person who would understand why I am freaking out right now. Waiting for a couple minutes, she finally replies, “Ugh Katie – I am in training and then I have some work to do at the childcare.”

“This is one of the reasons Adam came crawling back to me!.” Delilah (Aviva) massaged her temples, she rolled her eyes and tried to walk away. “Not too fast!.” Lilith said and pulled Delilah (Aviva) by the arm. “Don’t you want to see Adam?!.” Lilith asked. Unlike the way she had been calmly slapping Delilah (Aviva) on the face with her words she spoke calmly with her eyes like that of a puppy that just saw his treats being thrown away.

Ella said, “You aren’t just hurting yourself, Cato. You have nine younger siblings and every single one of them looks up to you. Even Lili.” Out of the ten, Lili had the most fire in her soul. Since four years old, she’d been independent and unable to stand being ordered around. She was also smart. Very smart. She knew exactly how to get her way and she never let anyone take advantage. She and Cato fought relentlessly, but although she’d never admit it, she admired Cato. The coffee sat untouched on the table as he stared at the rising steam. “Also yes, Marco noticed his missing joint,” I said, “Did you think that wouldn’t trace back to you?”

he asked, his voice cautious. Mateo simply shrugged, his eyes glinting with mischief. "You'll soon know," he said, his voice low and mysterious. He picked up his phone, dialed a number, and spoke only two words: "Come in." The door opened, and Lilah walked in, flanked by two burly security men. She was a vision of loveliness, her long, curly hair cascading down her back like a waterfall of silk. Her bright red dress hugged her curves in all the right places, showcasing her toned physique. Her full lips were painted a deep red, and her eyes sparkled with mischief as she walked over to Mateo.

Sparks of electricity come from the points of the pentagram around her. And then Isabelle knows no more.

“What’s wrong?” She lifts her head, her big brown eyes red-rimmed and filled with tears. “My friends… they won’t play with me,” she mumbles, wiping her nose with the back of her hand. “They said I’m an omega and I’m weak.” I frown, brushing hair strands from her face. “That’s not true. What’s your name?” “Lila,” she says, her voice small. “I’m six.” “Six, huh? That’s a great age.” I grin, trying to coax a smile from her. “I’m Tessa. How about you and I play something? Show those friends of yours you don’t need them to have fun.”

It took a moment but eventually the door was opened and she tried to look alert but her sleepy eyes gave it away. “Lila,” I said, trying to keep it calm. “Sorry for waking you. I need you to go check on Isabella, do you remember the path to the building I showed you?” Lila was supposed to be my last gift to Isabella after my departure to Romania. She was her personal maid and technically a spy for me. I paid her more than others to ensure she reported Isabella’s whereabouts. “I do sir, lady Isabella’s art gallery,” she responded with her voice firmer.
