Caged by a King
His eyes were open but unseeing, lost in whatever horror Crown Sight was forcing him to witness.
Elowen dropped to his knees beside him. "Corvin. Corvin, look at me."
The king's hand lashed out, catching Elowen's wrist hard enough to bruise. His eyes focused, then unfocused again, seeing something that was not there.
"You are covered in blood," Corvin whispered, his voice broken and young. "So much blood. It is dripping from your hands, your mouth, your—" He choked on the words. "I cannot tell if it is yours or mine. I cannot tell if you are dying or if I am."
