If she moved, he might lose it. “Are you done?” There was only silence. “Nolan, can I tell you a joke? I promise that you’ll calm down.” She heard ‘OK’ from behind her, with a hint of curiosity in his voice. “A cube of sugar was walking toward the North Pole, and when it got there, it felt really cold and was frozen solid, so it became rock sugar.” Nolan was rendered speechless. The woman excitedly continued. “I have another one. A cabbage started to strip while it walked, and after a few steps, it disappeared!”

Holy wow… I slept for a long while, no wonder I was hungry, I slept the whole dang day away. I couldn't ignore the rumble in my tummy any longer, it was quickly growing painful, and the nausea was about to swoop in. Rummaging through the fridge and pantry, I settle on making some quick nachos. I finish them off with some jalapeños and a very very generous helping of sour cream. I swear as soon as I sat down to eat, the boys came running. I heard the open and close of doors, and the scent I was growing to crave so much wafted through the air. The nachos suddenly didn't seem as appealing as they had been seconds prior.

"Excuse me. Um, I shouldn't be, considering how many tacos I ate earlier, but I kinda am. Whatcha gonna make?" He pulled out an assortment of sliced cheeses from the fridge. "Grilled cheese; I'm kind of a pro at it." I couldn't help the smile that worked it's way onto my face. "Ah yes, cuz it certainly takes a master chef to make a food in which the recipe is the name." Alec turned to face me, a smile forming on his handsome face as well. "Touché. Doesn't change the fact though, that mine are superior." I giggled, "Okay. I'll wait patiently to be impressed."

"Did you know... that the French eat snails because they dislike fast food?" I stared at him. The silence in the car was deafening. He didn't crack a smile; his expression was completely deadpan, his dark brows furrowed in intense concentration. The feared, dangerous Salvatore was genuinely trying to deliver a terrible dad joke, and he looked like he was suffering through it. Before I could even process the absurdity of it, he cleared his throat again, his ears turning just a fraction of a pinkish hue. "What do you call a fake noodle?" he muttered, looking straight ahead at the windshield. "An impasta."

This is the most goals joke as long as I've heard. "You're kidding, right? I swear! That's funny. Wow! If you join to stand up comedy, I make sure you can be the winner." "Na," said Mommy quietly. Chiko still showing his smile. "I'm serious and this is not a joke. You can tell the difference too, right?" Shit!

Lyra sipped hers. Big mistake. Her face contorted like she’d just licked a lemon made of lava. “Why would anyone willingly drink that?” she gasped. “Because,” I said, grinning, “it makes everything seem funnier. Watch.” At that exact moment, a man tripped over a bar stool and fell face-first into someone’s nachos. Lyra giggled. The sound was music. “You’re insane,” she whispered. “Comes with the territory.” ---

Noah scrunched up his nose, "I am not going to kiss or do other stuff with a crocodile!" I gave him an unimpressed look, trying hard to stifle my laughter. "And, yet you say that the fork is your true mate. Are you ready to do said 'stuff' with the fork." Half of the people dissolved in laughter, while the other half were left confused. I am sure they didn't get our inside joke. After that, there were some more mind-boggling questions like, "Noah, will you please leave Chloe, and marry me instead, please, please, please?"
