Stormfang Camp Dax’s POV The camp never truly slept that night. Sentries paced the perimeter in wider circles than usual. Fires were kept deliberately low, barely more than glowing coals so the light wouldn’t silhouette us against the dark. The air smelled of pine smoke, wet fur, and the faint metallic tang of fear. Flame had been restless since the sun set.

She grabbed my shoulders shaking them. “What the actual hell Nia!” she screamed loud enough for the entire building or country to hear her. “Shhh.” I said placing a hand over her mouth. “We have neighbours.” I reminded her. “Fuck them.” She said practically bouncing in her seat. “Don’t get so excited. Cradling Mocha close to herself, she closed her eyes, ready to drift off to sleep. The sound of the door opening alerted her, and she turned around to look at the person who had entered the room. It was Alexander, and he was observing her. For a few minutes, they bitched and stared at each other. “I wanted to check if you were alright.” He muttered. “Go away!” She yelled. “I want to sleep.” “You are drunk.” Alexander muttered. “That’s no way to sleep on a bed.”
