“Did I say that?” I replied casually, standing up and walking over to the window, my hands tucked into my pockets.
“No,” Noah said with a snort, “but you didn’t have to.”
I kept staring outside. The night was quiet, yet my mind was loud with thoughts of Charlotte, her tearful eyes, the way her voice trembled when she spoke, the way her scent lingered long after she left.
“She’s not like the others,” I found myself saying quietly.
