“I need a horse for my…for Stella.” Aaron frowned slightly, seeming to give the apple more attention than normal. Then he held it back, running his hand down the muzzle of the brown horse and holding out her lead rope to me. “Tiffany. That's what she's called.” — The adrenaline from the sprint hummed beneath my skin, beads of sweat gathered at the back of my neck. I ran my hand against Olarya’s dark fine fur, stopping to scratch the back of her ears softly. Her sides expanded and contracted with heavy, rhythmic breaths, the faint smell of sweat rising from her coat.

Dreamy and Pure. I wondered how much of it would survive the night. As soon as we stepped inside, heads turned. Murmurs followed and eyes narrowed. And I loved it. I smiled sweetly, leaning into Shane and whispering, “Let’s cause a little envy, shall we?” He kissed my cheek. “Already am.” he muttered. I didn’t even pretend to play coy when we found Isabella near the fountain centerpiece, glowing in a lavender gown that floated around her like petals. “Lovia!” she beamed. “Oh my God—you look incredible.”

We both turned to look, and there was Lloyd standing by the door, his hands crossed under his armpits. "Olivia, right? Did you know what time it is? Do you want me to tell you what time it is?" he said. He paused for a moment before continuing what he was saying. "It's already nine in the evening. If I lie down in bed to rest, do you think if you come into the room and lie down, you won't disturb me, huh? Just because daddy treats you like a princess doesn't mean I have to treat you the same way. That will never happen, Olivia! Maybe in your dreams."

The great advantage as a wolf was that wounds could heal up themselves. “Ooh totally forget about that I guess I'm quite the unlucky one” he said bitterly. Olivia rubbed her eyes, feeling exhaustion start to creep up on her now. It had taken her a long time to fall asleep the night before, despite knowing that Dallas was just inside the front door on the sofa, and that he had alarms on all his windows. She just couldn’t shake the feeling of malicious eyes on her, and she had laid awake in the dark for hours, afraid to close her eyes.

She shifted slightly, then cleared her throat. “Alright,” she said, trying, and failing to sound casual. “I’m guessing that look means I should probably go put on my dress.” My wolf did not look away. I snapped internally. Eyes up. He ignored me. Olivia arched a brow. “Wow. Zero shame.” “I’m so sorry,” I said quickly, mortified. “He’s… not subtle.” She laughed again, shaking her head as she stepped back. “I can see that.” Then she glanced over her shoulder toward the path we’d come from. “I’ll go grab my clothes. Give you some… privacy.”
