Jae Hyun approached the fight and saw the blonde hair in the crowd. Kallias was skilled, both with the sword and as a wolf. Jae Hyun could feel the energy of his wolf alpha. Whether he was okay or not. The omega drew the sword and was help him. The creatures were huge, the worst of them were the ancestral wolves of the shadows. Which Kallias would make a contract for in the future. But at that time. They were the enemies. Not that they weren’t now. Jae Hyun hit some of them with the sword and others with his lupine form. A light came around him and frightened them.

"And they have something no one else has. Nullifying wolves. Bred specifically to resist omega auras. Immune to the calming effect that is your greatest weapon." I pressed my hand to my chest, where the bond web hummed. The omega calm had saved me in the cave, in the pit, on the Conclave platform. It was the one weapon no one else could replicate. And the Frostmarch had bred wolves specifically to counter it. "How long do we have?" I asked. Corvus shrugged. "Months. Maybe weeks. They don't announce themselves. They just arrive. One day the border is quiet. The next day it's on fire."

"Hey Aurora!" I whip around and smile at Cassandra. She was the only wolf who didn't look at me in disgust and was my only friend. She was the daughter of an omega and was classified as one also. An omega was the bottom of the ranking chain in the wolf community but seeing as no one knew what I was, I suppose I was the very bottom in this pack.

“There are 4 classes of wolves that are determined by strength, size, and aura power. The most powerful are Alpha’s. They are the leaders of packs. Next is Beta’s we assist, and a lot of them become guards or soldiers. Next is Gamma’s. They tend to run the pack day to day needs like organising the pack house. Some are even in charge of upholding pack traditions and helping all observe holidays. Finally, there are Omegas. They make up the bulk of the pack and do most of the everyday work like cooking, cleaning, farming, etc” “How do you determine a wolf’s aura power?” Willow asks. “We give off pulses of energy. JOSH POV Now, I have my first question. “Omegas?” I ask. Maddie smiles at me again. She begins to climb the stairs as she answers me, “Omega is a ranking within wolf shifter packs. It is the lowest rank of wolves. Most packs have an abundance of lower ranking wolves, omegas being the most prolific. They tend to be the worker bees. Landscapers, housekeepers, child care givers, teachers, nurses, and doctors; professions like that who are all about care and repetition, emotional empathy, encouragement and care. They have huge hearts, and it is in theirs’s and their wolves’ natures to be attentive and nurturing to the other pack members.

Neah ‘Is that…’ Nyx murmurs. ‘Are they Wolves?’ She sounded just as confused as I did. We were certain; everyone was. They were supposed to be Hybrids. But two small black Wolves stalk towards the Omega, who is whimpering and crying. “Girls, stop!” Dane plants himself in front of the Omega while I remain glued to the spot. They are quick to bare their teeth and shuffle towards each other, standing shoulder to shoulder. If it weren’t for their eyes, I wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.

Caleb stood up, grabbing his staff. "They found us," he hissed. I stood up, my heart racing. I looked into the darkness of the trees. Four wolves emerged. They weren't Council warriors. They were Rogues—large, scarred males with hungry eyes and mangy fur. They didn't have packs. They lived by stealing and killing.
