Jameson off before he could finish. Mr. Hall was quiet for a long time, then finally sighed and patted my shoulder. "You're grown now. It's good for you to see more of the world." As I left the office and walked away, I could still hear Mr. Jameson muttering, "It's over just like that?" Mr. Hall sounded annoyed. "Keep your voice down! Do you want to announce it to the whole world?" Samson didn't come looking for me for the rest of the day. But honestly, I didn't care about the watch he promised me anymore.

I glare at him. “Sorry, baby. Go on.” His eyes are still glittering with anger. I roll my eyes. “After listening to all the voicemails, I listened to the last unknown number.” I scan the voicemail and play it to them. “Hello, Mackenzie. You’re alone now, aren’t you? At last, it’s our time together, and soon you’re gonna be mine, sweet Mackenzie.” Everyone gasps and Sebastian growls, fisting his hands.

In a blur, Mikhail reached out with one hand and covered her phone camera, leaning in just enough to make her flinch. “You are not taking that photo. We are leaving.” he turned to me and steered me towards the car. My voice cracked as soon as I dropped my bags in the truck. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t think anyone would recognize me.”
