I sat down quietly, keeping my head low, praying that everyone would go back to their food and forget I existed.
The dining room was filled with a few people, Damien, Aiden, Olivia, and two other men I didn’t recognize. The long table was lined with various dishes, the kind you’d only see during a feast. But I had no appetite. Just the sight of the food made my stomach turn.
I silently hoped everyone would remain quiet, just like they were now. If no one said a word, maybe I could survive this breakfast without falling apart.
But Damien ruined that hope.
“Welcome to the family, Charlotte,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “I hope you slept well?”
