Drifting away, I sat down on a chair, unaware of how long I’d zoned out until a familiar, joyful chirp snapped me back.
“Aster!” I exclaimed, blinking in surprise at her unexpected presence. We had chatted over the phone a few times, and she had always brightened my days in the mansion, making things more bearable. I jumped up and embraced her tightly. “I’ve missed you so much,” I squealed, hugging her even tighter.
“I’ve missed you too,” she replied with a smile, gently smoothing a strand of my hair. “How’s everything with Adagio?” she asked, and I nodded, signaling that everything was fine. “I’m just going with the flow.”
