A blade whistled past my ear.
I spun instinctively, heart slamming, to see a young warrior lowering his weapon, eyes wide.
“Sorry,” he said quickly. “Didn’t see you there.”
Liar.
I met his gaze steadily. “Try again.”
Murmurs rippled through the onlookers.
The warrior hesitated. “I—I don’t think—”
“I said try again.”
This time, he attacked properly.
I blocked, deflected, moved—not perfectly, but effectively. The clash rang through my bones, exhilarating and terrifying all at once. My wolf surged with approval.
