She saw the red dragon soaring down for another attack when she suddenly transformed into her phoenix and broke through the wall. Fueled by anger, the Phoenix flew directly into the red dragon, slicing his neck open. He tried to sink his teeth into her, and she kicked him with both feet. He quickly sunk his talon into her thigh, and she screeched in pain. The dragon hit her in the head with his powerful tail and knocked her out. Cyrus had her now, and he took off with her in his talons.

We had become easy pickings for the human vermin we had ignored and were allowed to breed freely and grow. Now we were at their mercy, but they knew none. Phoenix took a step towards me. He placed his hand over his heart. “I’m not like them Morning. Not anymore. I know that you are people too. You have feelings. You have hopes and you have dreams. You fall in love and you build families. Killing you isn’t hunting, it’s murder. I may be a killer, but I’m not a murderer.” Phoenix had a deep look of conviction on his face. He looked like he had contemplated these very words many times before.

My reflection stared back at me, my face covered with a Phoenix shaped mask that only allowed my eyes and mouth to be seen, it was my Trademark. The world now knew me as The Phoenix, the name wasn't just branding. It was my story. I had risen from destruction, rebuilt by hands that should never have held me together, and now the very fire that consumed me was now my fuel and weapon.
