“You’re messing with me, aren’t you? I can never tell when you do that? Why don’t you smile or something?” Why don’t you smile. You wouldn’t believe the amount of times I’d heart this question. I gave him the answer I always did. “I don’t smile.” Simple and short. “But you do.” I looked at him. “Excuse me?” “You do smile. When you’re stepping on the skulls of your enemies. It’s a scary sort of smile.” I shrugged. “Guess that’s the only thing that brings me joy.”

Only colder. Older. And smiling.

smiling. That smug, victorious smile. So it...was a plan?

As I scrolled downward, I realized in all his youth pictures, he wore a big smile on his face, something I had never seen on him. His eyes sparkled with delight, shining like two stars in the midnight sky. His mouth was contorted in a wide, genuine grin that stretched from ear to ear. His teeth gleamed bright white, surrounded by rosy lips that were pulled slightly wider at either end. His cheeks were crinkled with delight, and his eyebrows were raised in a playful expression. It was as if he had just heard the world's funniest joke and couldn't contain his joy. Every aspect of his face radiated pure happiness, making me Wonder how he turned so cold looking.

Phil smiled, that beautiful, innocent smile that lit up his whole face. My son's smile.

A playful smile spread across her face. 'Very well, they have come to me, and I didn't have to look for them one by one.'

she said with a sly smile. “Promise” I said with a soft smile. “Pinky Promise “she said bringing out her pinky finger, I rolled my eyes sighing heavily. “You are such a baby” I taunted with a playful glare, she nudged my arm with her pinky finger pouting her lips. “Pinky promise” I said and hooked her finger.

An affectionate smile that would normally send my toes curling. What’s going on? This is all a friendly thing, right?
