She picked up the empty plate and went toward the door. "Emma," I called after her. "Yes?" "Why are you really helping me?" Emma stopped at the door. "Because I know what it feels like to be alone and afraid. And because there's something special about your power. Something that feels very old and important." Before I could ask what she meant, Emma left and locked the door behind her. I sat alone in the darkness, thinking about her words. Old and important power? What did that mean? I put my hands on my belly and felt the baby move a little. At least my child was still okay for now.

The girl, Emma says, an intelligent glint in her eyes. "I told her not to bother you, alpha. She just doesn't listen to me." Aiden, her twin says. I smile, ruffling both their hairs. "It's alright. You can ask questions." "See?" Emma grinned at her twin, displaying frontless teeth. "I told you alpha and would agree to answer. You're just scared." Aiden sighs, facepalming. Emma’s hands shook as memories began to flood her mind, but before she could dwell further, the door slammed open, revealing a woman clad in a coffee-color mini gown, a limited-edition heel, and red lipstick that highlighted her flawless oval face. The excitement in her eyes was too palpable to be ignored.

Did the palace think they could strip her of her powers at their will? She walked to the door and opened it, it wasn’t locked. The two men were nowhere in sight. But immediately she stepped foot outside, Emelda regained her powers. she wasn’t going to let them use her at their will. She did a quick spell that broke the blockers that the two men had put in the room. And then she stepped back in. She was still the most powerful witch alive. Even though she had no intentions of using the powers, she still didn’t appreciate the fact that Darius had tried to take them away from her.

Without the immunity I give them, they would be locked up. My head falls back as I just relax in the perfect silence of the office. I am preparing myself for what is to come. The moment when I have to stand up to this Mr Lewis and force him to realise that while I am a woman, I am not a fool and won't be taken for granted. Force may be needed, and I need to be prepared because that is something I hate.
