It’s almost like he is proud of me for following my heart. “So, does that mean the boy can stay with us?” Hope lines my voice.

I shrugged and looked down, playing with the buttons on his shirt. “It’s just there is a lot to talk about for the future. There are a lot of relationships to navigate and a lot to talk about in terms of my pack responsibilities and the responsibilities of being Queen. Also with Kane being my mate that adds another pack's worth of responsibilities to my shoulders potentially.”

I've been looking into it the last few days since I started noticing the signs, even before the attack from her clan. Kennedy is The Leopard Queen, Queen of all leopards, not just our clan. The last Queen of all leopards was over a thousand years ago and she had three mates and the power to heal. Basically everything Kennedy has been able to do since she was a child, the original Queen of leopards could do too and more. The original Queen and her mates lived for nearly three hundred years, or so the legend says.

I spot the Queen sitting on her throne with her Knights surrounding her, and I can't help but laugh. “You have something that is mine.” I hiss, scanning the beautiful room for my Zion. “NO…" Her voice quivers as her face pales. “I-it can't be.” She rises from her throne, slowly walking down the stairs of her podium, and she kneels before me. Her Knights drop their weapons, as they mirror their Queen's stance. She is a wise female, bending the knee to me. I can tell how much she values her pitiful life. My nostrils flare as my chest rises and falls vigorously, “where is my mate?” I hiss, stepping in front of her.

My heart sank. But she didn’t appear concerned at all - quite the opposite, in fact. Instead, she repeated her call a second time, and then a third. “Alpha! Alpha! My Alpha!” I felt myself blush as I realized what she was doing. The call was quickly taken up by others, and pretty soon, the entire clearing was full of packmembers chanting my name, sounding full of pride. “Alpha!” “Rayla!!” “Queen of the Pack!!”

I hope they don’t create any problems. The Queen ant was looking for confirmation from the face and gestures of Allen. Seeing Allen relieved, she thought it may be fine. After all, any flaw in the second stage would automatically result in their disqualification….Wait. The Queen ant said, ”Do you know that if things take a wrong turn now , the domain will kick you out?” Allen made a little grunt on hearing that. His facial expressions remained unchanged, so it did not alert the Queen. He thought ‘It should be fine. The greed does not lead the other two anymore now. In fact, I think I can expect important additions tot he situation from them. Now then….’

Everyone looked at him. "I remember hearing Samuel argue with someone." "He called her..." Victor frowned, forcing the memory back. "...the Queen." The Queen. The chessboard. The unfinished game. The black king. The white queen. Elena slowly looked toward the chess table again. A realization struck her. She immediately examined the board. White's queen... Was missing. She looked down at the piece still in her hand. The one that had opened the hidden compartment. The Queen. Her fingers tightened around it.

“They’re all four the Alpha Kings now I hear, and they made her Luna Queen. Can you believe it? A breeder as the Luna Queen.” He shrugs. “I don’t know. I heard she’s nice.” I look at him and shake my head. “What does that have to do with anything?” “Well, a nice lady as Luna Queen—we could use that here, don’t you think?” He wiggles his eyebrows, and I just glare at him. “I suppose a breeder could be my Luna Queen if she just leaves me alone except for when I need her.” He laughs. “Well, that’ll win you points with her. You want to be kind to your mate.”

Without her, they were nothing but old wolves snarling at shadows. Still, appearances mattered. And if she played this right, she could tighten her own leash around their throats. “An Alpha who breaks ranks,” she said, savoring the words. “If it is true, then the Queen’s reign is not as iron as they believe.” Her companion smirked. “Shall I spread the word?” “No,” she said sharply, her smile returning only after he flinched. “Whispers are too fragile in clumsy hands. I will test this myself.”
