She had delicate features, warm brown skin, and striking green eyes. Her dark hair was pulled into a neat braid, and she wore a simple maid’s uniform. The woman removed her hood but kept the veil, revealing long dark braids and a scar down the side of her neck that looked like it had been carved by fire. “My name is Neris,” she said. “I was once like Elias.
